The Pilgrim Office

The Pilgrim Reception Office of Santiago de Compostela is just a few minutes walk from Plaza Obradoiro as shown on the map to the side.

The Welcome Centre of the Cathedral of Santiago is the place where pilgrims arrive for information, assistance and to request their Compostela certificate.

In 2016 the ’Distance Certificate’ was added, which records any distance that you may have walked, cycled or ridden by horse, from any point along the route.

You may request this is an addition to your Compostela but it’s not a requirement to have completed the 100km minimum pilgrimage.

  • Sealing credentials and delivery of the "Compostela"
  • Issuing of the Distance Certificate.
  • Chapel for prayer and reflection, with the possibility of Mass.
  • Parking for bicycles.
  • Post Office.
  • Renfe (train) office.
  • Alsa (bus) office.
  • Large space perfect for relaxing on arrival garden.
  • Office of Information and Tourism of Galicia.
  • Baths for pilgrims (accessible for the disabled).

Opening Hours

  • From Easter to October 31 – 08:00 to 21:00 hours
  • From November 1 to Easter – 10:00 to 19:00 hours
  • Closed – 25 December & January 1

NB – If the pilgrimage is completed reaching Santiago on Christmas or New Years Day, the “Compostela” can be obtained in the sacristy of the Cathedral.
